Board certification is a voluntary process, which demonstrates a physician’s expertise in neurological surgery and/or subspecialty.

PGY 1 through PGY 7

Continuous Certification (CC/MOC)

Must complete 7 years of residency training at an ACGME accredited program

Fellowships in subspecialties are optional; 1 or 2 year

Primary Examination(written exam) can be taken for self assessment, must be taken for credit and passed at least once

Practice years are those that take place after passing the primary exam
During this time candidates should be logging 150 cases in preparation for the oral examination

Oral Examination is offered twice yearly
