Once candidates have finished logging their practice data in NeuroLog they should submit it to the Board, along with a completed application and the required supporting documents. Candidates who complete residency training on or after June 30, 2011 must submit a completed application no later than four years following the completion of his or her residency training. The ABNS may grant extensions in its sole discretion upon request and for good cause only, such as military service, post-residency fellowship training, or other legitimate circumstances which make submission of practice data impractical within four years following training.
Processing an application, including the review and approval of data, typically takes twelve months. The Professional Practice Data Committee reviews the data. Once approved, it becomes part of the complete application package, including supporting letters, for review by the Credentials Committee. Their recommendation is presented to Directors for a vote. Once approved, the applicant’s name is added to the pool of candidates to be scheduled for oral examination. Candidates are scheduled approximately four months in advance of examination.
