The ABNS is in the final stage of testing ABNS POST (Practice and Outcomes of Surgical Therapies) which will replace the NeuroLog system. POST will offer an integrated IT platform that will allow candidates to enter their case data for ABNS review. Candidates will also be able to concurrently prepare their case presentations for the oral exam in the same platform (in contrast to the previous) multi-step approach.

In POST, candidates will be required to submit between 1 and 6 pre-operative images for cases in which imaging is a standard part of the clinical decision-making process. The evaluation of imaging data has been validated as a critically important element in understanding practice experience, and this information has become a key component of our new oral exam format, initiated in Spring, 2017. POST will also contain many other important features, including numerous discrete data fields, most of these made available in pull-down menus, which will allow for more fair and accurate analyses of submitted clinical data.

If you are interested in participating in the beta test or the limited rollout of POST in early February, please contact Erica Kohalmi at ekohalmi@abns.org. These candidates will be provided with additional support training and have an impact on the final design of the system.

To request a candidate account, please fill out the following form. Account information will be distributed upon launch.

Please check back for updates and scheduled webinars to demonstrate the new case submission system.

As a reminder, the following chart describes case submission options for ABNS candidates who completed their training from 2013-2017:

Residency Completion Year Data Submission System
2013 graduates Must have completed case submissions in Neurolog by 12/31/17 (i.e.: POST is not applicable to this specific group)
2014 graduates

2015 graduates

2016 graduates
Candidates who had already begun their logging their cases in NeuroLog by August 2017 were offered the opportunity to submit their completed case log including all required three-month follow-up in NeuroLog by 12/31/17. If they could not meet that deadline, they were notified that they would be required to enter/re-enter their cases in POST. Candidates who had not yet begun logging their cases by August 2017 and/or were not expected to have the required data with three-month follow-up by 12/31/17 are now required to enter their case data in POST.
2017 graduates These candidates were required to complete case submissions in POST

Please Note: No NeuroLog submissions were allowed for any candidate after 12/31/17.
